Save vs. Talk about my gaming

Hi,
Some quick notes from my D&D game:
1.) Despite the level adjustment keeping him one level down and a party role that puts him in the front lines, my Lizardman Marshal continues to survive, even in the face of disturbing aberations like the blood shoggoth or the thing made of heads. He is seriously wishing he could go back to the army and just fight normal things. At the very least, he's hoping that Halloween will soon be over and the holiday-themed monsters will go away.
2.) He really likes the creepy conjurationist, even if he does worship Cthulhu. Actually, once he figures out what Cthulhu actually is, he might be less impressed, but as long as undead owlbears show up to activate his flanking bonus, he's not complaining.
2a.) Owlbears have now been added to the dictionary on my spell-checker.
3.) The next round of new PCs will simply be referred to as "FNG".
4.) On that note, I'm hoping we can get a rogue who...y'know...can find and disarm traps. Also, a spellcaster who can do ranged attacks would not go amiss either.
5.) Look, in D&D, if a guy holds up his fists and the words "HUGE COCK" are tattooed across the knuckles? That guy's a magic-user is all I'm sayin'.

Yeah, I do too...a Cleric!
A party really needs one and if you volunteer to do it, that's your job for the campaign. It's highly unlikely that anyone else will roll up a 2nd cleric for the party if they bite it, so your only hope is that you die when someone else does and then tell them they can either take on the job of cleric or the party can be priest-less and then we'll all be back rolling up new characters in jig time.

Also, what's a Marshal ?class? And don't lizardmen have some ridiculous requirement about staying damp?

*snerk* Famous lines: "It's not trapped. You open it."

Date: 2007-10-30 06:06 pm (UTC)The NPC is a bard. Which comes with a bit of healing, but also comes with a serious coke habit and a serious yen for groupie sex.
Marshal class is out of the minis handbook. Basically, I generate an minor aura 120' in diameter that gives a +4 bonus when flanking and my "major" aura gives you a flat +1 to hit on melee attacks. Which means that when you flank, you're already up +7 on the to hit roll. Have I mentioned that I love the conjorur who makes owlbears appear in good flanking spots for me? Have I mentioned that with my ludicrous to-hit rolls, I'm raking in the power attacks? It's good stuff. Oh, and I have a second minor arua that gives a +4 to initiative checks. The party routinely has over half the members going on 20+.
The problem isn't that it isn't trapped. The problem is that we're dead certain it's trapped and we need someone to disarm it. That person should ideally be the rogue and not the scout.

Date: 2007-10-30 06:30 pm (UTC)I like your bard. I tend to leave the bad habits to players, though, since it's pretty easy to dump an NPC who's got an annoying drawback.

My party tends to substitute "person with most health" for the rogue in these circumstances. It is probably not coincidental that Pygment's character's preferred method of picking locks is kicking down the door.

Date: 2007-10-30 06:07 pm (UTC)there will always be a bandaid box in the party though.
