Hey,

So last night I learned that the song is called "Jet Airliner" by the Steve Miller Band and the the line from the chorus is "Oh, oh big ol' jet airliner" rather than "Oh oh we goin' down Carolina", which I knew was probably wrong, but couldn't for the life of me make out what it really was.

To be fair "jet airliner" is not really a descriptor in common parlance.

Hey,

So AM really likes the singer Pink. I like her music too, but AM is a big, big fan. So when she found out, back in March, that Pink was playing the Garden in December, she asked if I'd like to join her. I said sure, because it'd be fun and I know the importance of supporting obsessions (oh, I owe you guys a little dudes post). Last night was the concert. This was actually a number of firsts for me. I'd never been to Boston Garden's before and I'm pretty sure I've never been to a stadium concert before.

First thing I discover is that I have child-bearing hips. Either that or those are child-bearing chairs. They literally sold me the whole seat but I could only fit on the edge.

Second thing I realize is that this isn't a concert, this is Cirque de Rose. Pink spent more time off the stage than she did on it thanks to silks and wire-work. Along with her acrobatic dancers, it was a pretty high-flying show. Also, Pink's abs have abs.

So it was a pretty kick-ass show. I'm still not a huge fan of concerts (and I was just about ready to pick up the idiots behind me and chuck them off the balcony), but it was a good show. AM sang herself hoarse and I gifted her with an overpriced concert t-shirt so it was a good time all around.

p.s. Oh, my entire hometown population fits in about a quarter of the upper balcony section of the garden...which was a little sobering.

Hey,

Some videos for some music I've been enjoying:

Berlin Wall by The Heavenly States. The animation doesn't thrill me but the music makes me happy.

Something in the Water by Brooke Fraser. The official video is much better, but I can't find an embeddable version so you get this more static version...

I also strongly recommend We're All Gonna Die by Mieka Pauley, but all the YouTube videos are crappy coffeehouse recordings and it deserves better.

Hey,

So, the following music video is NSFW. It also seems like it's a one-note joke...but if you've got the power to persevere...it goes the extra mile:

here be nightmare fuel )

It's kinda catchy though...

Hey,

I know a few people who love old technology and music so I figure you might like this:

It's A Fact(TM):

The guitar lick from Steve Wonder's song Superstition precisely matches the resonant frequency of the human ass.

Hey,

Here's the breakdown of a fun little percussion piece (watch for volume):

It'd be fun to be good enough to do a duet with someone.
