Hey,
So I noticed that there's a lot of people doing gaming-related podcasts. I also notice that everyone sounds uniformly stoned on these shows. I suspect it's an issue of MP3 sound quality and not their state of being.
I gotta say, though, that most of them are kind of lame. They're not awful, but it's mostly just people nattering on about stuff that either everyone knows about or no one cares about. I mean, it'd be nice if any of these shows had a real review portion where they went into depth about a product (that they'd actually played) and why they did/didn't like it. But mostly it's just breezy bullshitting and that's nice and all, but it seems to be a waste of the medium. True, it's amateur and people are just starting out and give 'em a break, but I just think it could be better.
I think there are two show formats that I haven't seen that would be pretty cool:
1.) Veritas -- This would be a bit like Knights of the Dinner Table or Dungeon Majesty where we just record a game as it's played. Considering the length of sessions, this would require a fair amount of clean-up and editing (although as a matter of personal integrity, I'd keep the entire recording available for people who wanted it). It could either be "as-is" or interspersed with some bits of "radio dramatization" of what people are doing.
2.) "I Had This One Guy" -- I'm sorely tempted to walk around GenCon and go up to game designers and ask them for one of their gaming war stories. Kind of like "This American Life", but for gamers. Hrm...maybe just rip off TAL more directly...
But yeah, put a little more focus on things.

Tom
p.s. What do you actually need to podcast?
