Hey,

So I'm working my way through Weapons of the Gods, the RPG. It's based on the Wuxia comics of the same name by Hong Kong artist Tony Wong.

As you might expect from a game based on a long-running serial comic book, the setting is...dense. However, the game strives very hard not to be bound to the series. Instead it allows various comic book plots to be purchased by players and customized to their particular needs. It's very neat. Actually, there's a lot of this that's turning out to be very neat.

It was co-written by Brad Elliot and Rebecca Borgstrom. I *heart* Rebecca. This book has her stamp all over it. From the nifty mechanics, to the decadently wonderful disorganiztion of the text (it's not nearly as bad as Nobilis, but system and setting are woven together and the detailed table of contents still can't do the job of an index). The book is just a good read all around.

I've been skipping back and forth so I haven't quite gotten into the combat section yet, but it's clearly shaping up to be an over-the-top system that has a surprising amount of subtlety.

Anyway, I'll give a slightly bigger review after I get all the way through. I just really want to gush about how much I love Rebecca's stuff. She wrote the setting material! Little Borgstrom stories! So cute!
