Weekend Round-up

Friday night, gaming:
Global Frequency -- This went surprisingly well. It ran in just a little under 2 hours 1 hour to pass out characters and explain stuff, 1 hour to actually run. But I set up the game so that I could sort of explain the mechanics and everything as part of the game. People seemed to have a lot of fun. Perhaps a slightly varied method to generate the random events, but otherwise a lot of fun. I should break it out in the future.

jicklet did not play, nor did she show up in a schoolgirl outfit. But she did grace us with her manray-attired self before taking off which was almost as good. But in the end we wound up with 8 mal-adjusted losers who went on a whale "watching" trip. Final tally:
1 Whale blown up with 4 points of "make anything explode" evil.
1 Whale run over by the boat
1 Whale (large, white, vengeful) destroyed by a life preserver in the blowhole, a fire axe to the eye, and a pyrotechnic satantist possessed by a magic katana who did a fiery kamakaze into the whale's gullet.
Plus a couple of dogs and seagulls -- oh and one guy bit the head off his mom's parrot.
One guy ended up with 7 people hating him. 3 characters had to add a line to their sheet saying "This many whales hate me".
So that was good.
Saturday/Sunday, Chillin' in Western MA
Started out with a late brunch withlindalee. Much bacon and fruit. Then off to pick up asciikitty and we were off.
Picked up my copy of Dogs in the Vineyard from Em. I'm listed in the credits and used in the Actual Play example. Whee! Got to see all my old roomates again and had a lot of fun hanging out, playing drums, wandering NoHo and just having a good time.
Monday, Home Again
Stopped off on the way home to see Hero. The cinematography was gorgeous. I want to have my own personal "Storm Arrow" archery unit in D&D now. Also, libararies came in for a lot of punishment in this movie. Overall, it was a lot of fun. Then there was ice cream and laundry and off to sleep.
