Hey,

So I think it'd be interesting to do a comic where Superman's powers are very directly related to our sun. He's only Superman when the sun is out and when not exposed to sunlight (indirectly is fine) his powers quickly fade and he's back to just being a normal schmoe.

Which, so great, he's Superman during the day, but most crimes happen at night. Especially in Gotham City.

I think you see where this is going...

There'd be some fun stuff to dig into there

I thought Superman lived in Metropolis.

Right, so the angle here is that he lives in Gotham (or a more Gotham-like Metropolis) and during the day he's all-powerful Superman but by night (when a lot of crime happens that he wants to stop), he dons the cape and cowl of Batman.

Young Kal-El was rocketed to Earth and found by the Waynes who raised him as their own until that fatal night.

Ah. Okay. I failed to see where you were going.

On another note: I remember as a kid being impressed as hell that the DC
people had taken the trouble to concoct a plausible scientific explanation
for Superman's powers (i.e. he got them from the yellow sun) whereas they
could have just taken the cheap way out and offered no explanation at all.
I also remember explaining to my mother how classy this was of them, but
I'm not sure she got the point.
