Maybe it's an affectation. Then again, maybe Burlew just doesn't care anymore. I find both options equally plausible.

I dunno. I think it was pretty standard for OOTS humor. Start the next joke before the first one is done, and have it overlap into the next comic. Par for the course.

And I thought it was pretty cute too. Easily the best explanation he could have had.
