Hi,

Superman has X-Ray vision.

Superman has Heat vision.

Now, if we assume the heat vision is some sort of super-powerful infra-red laser beam (which is also visible...possibly because it ignites the air?) then it seems as though Superman can project two widely separated parts of the electromagnetic spectrum. It makes you wonder if he could practice a bit and project other forms.

Even simple light might be sufficient to blind an attacker.

And, of course, ultraviolet vision would let him catch Onanists everywhere (in states where that's illegal).

But when you add in the fact that Superman also has SuperVision (allowing for telecopic and microscopic vision), and you also consider that really, Superman is a dick, then the solution to most problems should be simple.

"Huh, looks like there's a bank robbery next town over. I'll just turn up the high-beams on the ol' X-Ray vision....there we go, they'll be dead from radiation poisoning by the time they reach the getaway car. Another crime foiled -- thanks to Superman!"

heh

In the JLU cartoon, he (actually an alternate dimension Justice Lord) used them to lobotomize several villains. Including that thing that killed him in the comics who is supposed to be nigh impervious to such things.

Heh, I think it was... Rifts maybe? Some old RPG where I had a character with X-ray vision...

As a sort of tertiary sneak attack, I would stare at people's heads and try to give them headaches.

Are these real covers?

Are these real covers, or are these photoshopped covers? Most of them are semi-believable, but I'm amazed at some of them -- I've never heard about any of this before.

I'm pretty sure these are all genuine covers. You should also do a search for "Oddball Comics", more great weirdness.

I think the only real issue would be at what distance. If currently we have to use adaptive optics to overcome atmospheric distortions, would Superman also need to somehow also do this to focus the beam finely enough?
