Hi,

So, as mentioned earlier, I'm reading Hyperion by Dan Simmons. Also, as I mentioned earlier, I liked it quite a bit and it was very much a sci-fi version of the Canterbury Tales.

Unfortunately, while the story is excellent in almost every respect, I must regretfully knock off a letter grade because the book is not a complete story in and of itself. It is simply the first half of a story which Fall of Hyperion concludes. I am currently reading Fall of Hyperion right now so expect to see my impressions of that soonish.

Look, people, a book can't be a Hugo award winner if it isn't complete in one volume. That's all I'm saying. You can have a long multi-book arc if you want, but some level of resolution is required in each book or you're just whistling dixie.

Still, with that caveat, Hyperion is a very good book.

You know... it just occurred to me recently that the Supreme Power series that JMS has been writing (now Squadron Supreme) is the very same goofy ass Squadron Supreme that was a direct ripoff of DC superheroes in the Marvel universe.

I'm a doofus, I should have figured it sooner, considering they've all got the same damn names and everything. DUH.
