Many of my friends ask me, they say "Tom, you're a pervert. What kind of smutty porn is turning your crank these days?" Actually, my friends never ask me that. They know that such blasphemous knowledge might consume their very soul.
Still, I'm going to tell you.
Boink Magazine is a refreshing new entry in the world of sex-positive smut. All the more startling since it's a publication put out by students at Boston University. It has a few rough edges and there's still some inexperience showing, but the first two issues have been of such stupendous quality you really won't notice it. Especially when comparing to most smut you may have lying about the house.
The models come in a wide range of ethnicities and orientations and are all completely hot (or teh hawt as they say on the Intarweb). All of them are "real" and appear to be shot with a minimum of artiface. The latest issue has a particularly fine spread with a woman "stripping" out of body-paint clothing that's been airbrushed on her -- the effect is particularly good.
There are articles. Mostly sex-positive information pieces and articles relevant to the "college sexual experience". Coming from WPI, I consider myself rather fortunate to have had any college sexual experiences at all (which reminds me that Adam Adams's freshman-year roomate Nick owes me like $50 -- he said I wouldn't get laid before I graduated....) At any rate, yeah, the college sexual experience....and all that that implies. No short fiction, but perhaps that will arrive with time. I'd be very interested to see what they come up with.
The magazine is well laid-out and the graphic design and print quality easily rivals most professional publications -- and yeah, who really cares about that sort of thing, but again, it's a college prodcution and the quality is better than you'd think.
It's also a hell of a lot better than H-Bomb -- the Harvard magazine for Erotica. H-Bomb also has really high production values, but it's wasted on some of the most snooze-inducing, navel-gazing erotica it has ever been my mistake to check out based on an intriguing cover picutre.
So yeah. Get Boink. It's pretty darn good. You can pick up the latest issue at Newburry Comic stores in the Boston area.

That is weird. Their photo spreads are about 50-50.
The mag is still really good though...
