Yup, the end times are upon us.
I have, in my hot little hands, the HERO System 5th ed. Core Rulebook.
Strangely, I get the feeling that Annie's mom would love it. Y'know, what with the differential calculus required to determine your base characteristics and all.

I still remember Shift - he was an army experiment in shapeshifting who escaped. His favorite prank: turning into a coffee cup that weighed 6 tons and waiting for the party brick to give himself a hernia.

Since the 5th ed. debuted a couple of years ago, they've had a steady stream of sourcebooks, sometimes more than one every month and all of them incredibly dense. It helps that they're doing a lot of catch-up from previous editions, but still...
very ambitious.
