Hey,

I've been bad about keeping up so here's a short synopsis.

Session 5: The Ring sails up the river to assault Doc's stronghold of Kayquodek. It's a bit hairy, but they manage to push through without too many casualties. Doc does blow up most of the compound and manages to flee downriver with his bodyguards. The Ring recovers a poison gas canister, but make a note to come back later.

Session 6: The Ring returns to Freedom. They left Vega and her boys in charge and while the Ring was out, Vega killed Welcome (for "being creepy"). Good because everyone hated Welcome, bad because he was a deputy from the City. The Warden tries to raise the City, but gets brusquely shut out.

Meanwhile, Tai and Skel go back to Kayquodek to rummage for supplies. They run into a low-level weirdo from the city who's also snooping around. Skel has him doing lackey-work for a while and when they meet back up with Tai, turns him loose. They head back to town.

The Warden has decided he wants to set up his psychic antenna to let Skel broadcast her powers and hopefully use it to take out the pirates before they show up. He sends a black-ops team out into the Salvage Reef to set things up while everyone else is celebrating the destruction of Doc and company.

When Tai returns, the Warden has her go out to the antenna with Sky Boy to look things over and calibrate the device. She goes out, reviews the work that's been done so far, hooks up the connections and decides it's ready to go if needed.

"You know...you haven't actually tested this thing."

"Hmmm...maybe I should test this thing.

*Rolls a 2*

"Shiiiiiiit!"

A psychic pulse goes out and renders pretty much everyone unconscious. There's a lot of psychic weirdness going on and in the process, a lot of people learn a lot of technical things that they probably shouldn't. Skel (who was wearing Tai's "thought plugs") goes out to see what happened, but Tai, mis-interpreting her approach as something bad, zots her.

Finally, the Warden manages to wake up, grab Ponch and they go out to the antenna. The Warden pulls Tai out of the device and then, unwilling to let word of this leak back, kills pretty much every NPC out there (including, sadly, Sky Boy). The Warden and Ponch load up Skel and Tai and take them back to Freedom where they get a doctor working on them. Skel comes to and is dismissed and then Tai wakes up.

There is an epic dressing down by the Warden who implies that Tai's actions directly caused the death of the team (via the Warden's rage, but he didn't mention that). Tai is horrified and is sent to her room to think about what she did. The Warden goes back out with Ponch to destroy the antenna.

Tai gets a visit from Metatron who tries to enlist her help and encourage her to not take things so hard.

There's a bit more faffing about and then some shells start whistling in with a fair amount of precision. The shells contain written reminders that the pirate's tribute is due tomorrow. How ever did they manage to figure out how to aim the gun so well? Hey...didn't Tai see Doc working on some technical device in some cramped cell? Crap.

Next session will be our last and then it's on to D&D5. I'm playing a Paladin!

later
