Hi,

Of only minor interest to anyone besides the players in my BE Game:

I was talking with one of the BE playtesters this weekend. And I mentioned that the Flank maneuver in BE seemed to pretty much be the One True Maneuver. He mentioned that when he was doing the playtests, Flank was never that overpowering because you had to divvy up the dice between attack and defense, the way you did with the Flak Maneuver at the Phase level.

So rather than dump 8 dice into Flank and use all of it against your opponent, you had to split the dice into a defensive pool (successes from which become the difficulty for your opponent's maneuver) and an offensive pool (successes from which must beat your opponent's). Assuming a minimum defensive pool of 3 dice (like in Flack), this would completely clear up the dominance of Flank.

I couldn't find any official errata, but this totally seems like how it should be.

Tom
