Today's entry is: Take Ten II: More Ten-Minute Plays.
As you might expect, it's an anthology of short plays. Obviously I really liked the first book in the series enough to pick up this volume.
And it is...OK.
In 10 minutes you really need to go somewhere with your story. If you don't have a story, if you just want to do this surreal slice-of-life thing, or if you need to do this clipped Mammet-style of dialogue where people say monosyllabic lines to express solioquies. Well, that might seem to be well-suited to a shorter format...but only if you want the stuff to be over as soon as possible.
Also, theatre is about a hell of a lot more than life in New York City.
That said, it's an anthology and it covers a lot of ground so there are a few good ones in there and none of them are truly horrible, but it all winds up kinda mediocre.
