So this past weekend I discovered that I can't actually sit in a Fiat unless there is a moon-roof and said moon-roof is open. So there's a car I shouldn't buy.

No, my head only just stuck out of the top. Besides, I was wedged into the seat so tightly, I wasn't going anywhere.

The Honda Fit has a surprising amount of head room if you're looking at sub-compacts. We joke that it's the Tardis, bigger on the inside. YMMV, but all around good car at a good price, if you're ever looking at smaller cars.

My husband is 6'4", and the last time he was shopping for a car, he told the salesman that he wasn't interested in a particular car because he hit his head on the roof. The salesman started talking about his "unusual headroom requirements," and my husband decided not to buy from THAT guy. :-)
