Hi,
So I decided that there needs to be a new re-enactment group:
Long Haul CB Truckers from the 70's.
So it's everything you see in Convoy, Smoky and the Bandit, Every Which Way But Loose, BJ and the Bear, Dukes of Hazzard et al. You wear the trucker cap and the flannel shirt and the belt with the big buckle and talk CB at the "Truck Stop" gatherings.
I did some checking, there's a WWII re-enactment group devoted to the Red Ball Express logistics brigade that supplied Patton and a Mad Max group, but nothing for the Knights of the Road.
later
Tom
p.s. Also, we apparently invented the "Tube Top Code" last night. It's like a hanky code but for truck stops...yeah, we're a little weird.

Date: 2010-08-09 02:47 pm (UTC)I saw quite a few of those when I was working for Allied; that's about as steeped in truck stop culture as I got :-)
