...because they'll totally ace the thermo class:

"One of the most basic laws in the universe is the Second Law of Thermodynamics. This states that as time goes by, entropy in an environment will increase. Evolution argues differently against a law that is accepted EVERYWHERE BY EVERYONE. Evolution says that we started out simple, and over time became more complex. That just isn't possible: UNLESS there is a giant outside source of energy supplying the Earth with huge amounts of energy. If there were such a source, scientists would certainly know about it." [emphasis added]

Yes. Yes, scientists certainly would know about it.

It's amazing how they basically build a bridge and then drive their car through the gorge instead.

This, by the way, comes from a list of the top 100 quotes from Christian Fundamentalist boards. (courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] bryant)

I've been posting it for a while.

Check out:
Fundies Say the Darndest Things

It's full of stuff like that. (It's also pretty scary to think that people believe this stuff)

The -real- problem is that we're offered a false choice (hawkish neoliberal economics or hawkish neoliberal economics), and once we make our false choice our representatives' actions don't map to public opinion, in the short or long term.

Consider, for example, the Democrats' mandate to get us the f- out of Iraq... they've tried to -remission- a bit, but haven't even attempted to force an immediate withdrawal. Democratic leadership are uninterested in impeaching the Nixonian-approval-level manimals running the gov'mnt, and the one victory of this congressional session is Dodd (D-CT) opposing Reid (D-NE).

This is my favorite from that site:

"Mutations in the ebg system are clearly not an example of evolution but mutation and natural selection allowing for adaptation to the environment. "

Thanks for the chuckles!
