Hey,

So last night I got a chance to try out Rio Brazailian Barbeque (on 473 Mass. Ave. in Arlington). This place just recently opened and I've been curious to try the Meatstravaganza that is Brazilian dining.

There was a lot of meat. I really wish Mikey was there with me because endless meat on a stick is really his idiom.

Right, so they bring around large skewers and either slide portions off onto your plate, or they slice into the meat and you use your little tongs to pull them off. There was beef, chicken, pork, lamb, ribs, 2 kinds of sausages, chicken wrapped in bacon, and probably one or two others. They give you a coaster that's green on one side, red on the other. If it's green side up, the meat flows freely, if it's red side up, they give you a break (although our server did ignore the stop sign once or twice).

Along with all the meat, you get a buffet. You fill up with side things like potatoes and rice and salads and whatnot. All the food in the buffet was pretty good. I really liked their potatoes, they had this fish-curry stuff that was tasty and the pasta salads were both pretty good two.

For desert we got a killer flan.

So...yeah, you should give this place a try. It's only been open a couple of weeks so we didn't have any trouble getting a seat. Aside from the meat on a stick option, they've got a number of really intersting looking entres as well. Finally, if you are a vegetarian, you can probably still eat there as they have a small selection of vegetarian options (you might want to check to make sure that the food is completely free of meat contamination, but it looked promising).

Brazilian BBQ is one of favorite things. M & I have been freqenting one in Everett center called Pichana's for the past year. They do it differently though, you go up and get all the food buffet style and pay by weight. We're both able to eat like pigs and we're still hard pressed to spend over $20 for the two of us, with drinks (juice usually, although they do have $2 drafts!) and dessert! Speaking of which, they also have a killer flan there... what is up with Brazilian flan? It's like crack! So good!

Man, I'm hungry now.

I was really to amused by all the servers with the meat on swords. I liked it there.

I have done this thing at East Coast Grill a couple of times, and it sounds like it was a very similar experience. I would definately recommend that place as well.

Glad you liked it.

MMM, want. I used to go to Brazilian BBQ on Mass Ave long ago. It turns out that there are two Brazilian BBQ places up in Woburn center - large immigrant population - but they're both buffet-style, not seated/skewer style.
