Hey,

So I have a new side project.

You've probably noticed my recent nattering about Traveller stuff. I ordered some CD-ROMS with pretty much everything GDW put out for Classic Traveller. This includes all the issues of Journal of the Traveller's Aid Society.

In one of the issues of JTAS, there's an article by an author who notes that you could play a "real-time" game of Traveller. Traveller is a sci-fi game and each trip through hyperspace takes 1 week of game time (regardless of realspace distance you jump). Further, the average merchant spends about 1 week "in-system". You land, unload your cargo, get into trouble, load up your cargo, and fly off to the next destination.

So this guy's idea is that you game for about 10 minutes a day, every day. You're stuck in hyperspace for a week? You're stuck in hyperspace for a week. You're hanging out dirtside for a week? Tell us what happened. He suggested that you could do it as a group or as an individual.

I thought it was neat. So I created a blog and started adding some prequel fiction and some "behind the scenes" stuff (to show the underlying Traveller stats) and a few other bits and pieces. Today I'm officially starting the game and my crew has taken its first jump.

You can follow the on-going adventures of Nathan Fletcher and the crew of My Other Option right here.
