Hi,
Wanted something cheap and breezy to read so I picked up Liar's Peak by Robin Laws (yes, that Robin Laws). Liar's Peak is set in the Games Workshop fantasy world of Warhammer, so in most respects it's even more derivative than the typical fantasy novel. But I was just looking for something to read and Mr. Laws is generally a pretty good writer so with expectations sufficiently set, I was ready to go.
The story follows on Angelika Fleischer, a looter of battlefields by trade, but it's a business she intends to get out of. She's cashed in years of work on a valuable ring and hopes to settle down somewhere nice. As you might imagine, there are complications.
I asked for light and inconsequential and that's what I got. Probably won't be persuing other Warhammer books any time real soon.
later
Tom
