So,

Variety magazine is interviewing Warren Ellis. It's a short, kinda blah interiew, but the last question...oh the last question...

Q: The standard Hollywood question: What projects do you have in the works in the film or TV biz that you can talk about? Is there any news on the Global Frequency TV series?

A: I believe John Rogers ("The Core") is turning in the pilot script for Global Frequency any day now. We've been in fairly close contact during his writing process, and he's absolutely nailing the tone. I'm very happy. Other than that, no, I have nothing in the works right now.

Right,

So this morning I had this dream where I was hanging out with some journalist type and she says "Hey, let's go interview President Bush. I don't want to talk policy or anything, I just want him to tell me a little anecdote, or a joke or something. I'm curious to know if, once you take some of the pressure off, if he's approachable or even vaguely human."

Sounds good to me so we go off and find President Bush. I'm not sure if we meet up with him in Texas or by the White House, but he's standing out on this lawn and he says, "sure, I'll tell you this funny story" and starts in on it. And...he's not bad. The story seems interesting and he only has a few mis-statements here and there, but it's not like he's completely incomprehensible or anything. There's this handler who's hanging out who tries to put a good spin on things, but the reporter seems perfectly happy to ignore grammatical errors and just listen to his little story.

But eventually, Bush gets busy or the story shifts a bit and he invites [livejournal.com profile] rumpelteaser up to tell her bit and finish off the story. Apparently, she's some sort of cabinet secretary or major staff member. This amuses me to no end since if she really did work for Bush, it would be only in the context of trying to undermine him. Maybe it was an official position or something.

So she picks up the story. But, of course, she's much less careful and much more truthful in her narrative and there's some naughty words and she mentions something about drug use and the handler is doing backflips trying to spin out what she's saying as she says it. The reporter has to keep reassuring him that she won't slant the story poorly and I have to keep reassuring him that I'm just along for the ride and won't be writing anything.

The dream kinda totters off at this point. My overall impression is that Bush is probably a great guy to go drinking with, but in a political debate, he'll get chewed alive. I feel a bit sorry for him.
