So...let's start with the good news:
This weekend? Fun. Lots of fun. Moved big heavy rocks around. Got to see good friends. Drank Mead. Well Fed.
Sunday, got to playtest an interesting new RPG. Was fun.
Sunday night...
Decided to drive home from Western Mass along Rte. 2. It was pretty miserable out, but I felt that it was still drivable and it was. So I drove.
Near Gardener I hit this patch of snow and start to slide. I try and get control back but no dice. My car is now skidding sideways down Rte. 2 and the headlights stab out along the side of the road. Luckily, the roads aren't terribly packed and everyone's going slowly so I wasn't worried about getting creamed from behind.
I've been in some accidents before and once again I had one of those "huh, this is going to suck" moment of resignation right as I plow into the guardrail.
A window shatters, the CD player just stops for a heartbeat...and then merrily starts up again.
So yeah, my car is a mess on the driver's side. I'm completely fine. Since I have my life and my health, the most precious possessions I own, I can now completely stress and fret about the state of my car and my finances and a million other things that seem to make life cruddy.
So if I'm not hooopy responsive for the next few days, this is why (well, that and I'm going to go see the LOTR mega-trilogy thing).
Y'know, I've never just had a car get too old and die on me, I always wreck 'em and walk off to get a new one. I'm mostly amazed at my good fortune, but perhaps I should take to working from home. Or at least learn to listen to my inner prophet a bit more.
