Planning Ahead...
Nov. 19th, 2003 01:44 pmHi,
Today we're talking with Ron Crews of the Massachusetts Family Institute. He's rather troubled by the recent ruling on gay marriage by the MA Supreme Court and he mentions the following:
Crews said, "It seems to me that there will be people who come up to the court after them, maybe not next month or next year but before long and they'll say there are three of us who want to get married. We love each other, we want to form a family and just as you changed the definition of marriage so that the homosexual requirement was dropped now we would like to change the definition further so that the only two-people requirement be dropped."
I believe that Mr. Crews is very accurate in his prediction. Therefore, I suggest that you just go ahead and do away with that clause right now and fend off any lengthy court challenges. It's a Civil Union, it's a binding civil contract with rights and responsibilities and while they traditionally have two parties, you could see a version that allowed for multiple people to sign on.
Thanks!
Tom
