Go Me!

Hey,

So some good-ish news:

I had a job interview the other day. It seemed to go pretty well. I'm hoping there's a second interview next week. The pay would be low and the commute hellish, but I'd be back "in the Industry" and that's A Very Good Thing. The IT department head was a hottie and that's another big plus. Yeah, she had a rock on her hand the size of the Chrysler building, and it's not like I go to work to pick up chicks...it's just an ambiance thing. Besides, if I'm working with beautiful co-workers, then, by logical extension, I must be beautiful.

At first, I was a bit mixed on the place -- it has an industrial/manufacturing component that gives me the blue-collar creeps, but the people I talked to seemed friendly enough and the company had a decent vibe. So I'm feeling a bit more upbeat about it now. The job itself is basically application support and development while large parts of the IT department phase in a new set of applications. Less groundbreaking design work, but again, it's more about the opportunity to do what I know right now.

Oh, and completely off-topic, there's just a massive number of churches in Attleboro.

I've also got a lead on this job in Watertown that I'm waiting to hear back on, so the whole job front appears to be opening up.

The other big piece of news is that I got 2nd place in the Iron Gamer contest over on the Forge! There were 17 entries covering an amazing range of topics and genres considering the four "theme ingredients". I even beat out a couple of published game writers so I was pretty happy even with second (and first place was a really well-done example). This was my second "Crash Development" program. Last month I did one in 24-hours, this month I did one in a week. Up until now, I've mostly done development for LARPs I've run so this has been pretty exciting. Will I go whole-hog and put up an indie-rpg for sale? Well...maybe. We'll see what happens.

On a bitter note, the "We're Not Bitter" Party appears to be dying off due to lack of attendance. So now I've got something else to be bitter about. The good news is that there are a few different selections on my weekend menu that I can now choose from. So all's well in the end.
