Hi,

So I'd been recommended the "Master Li and Number Ten Ox" books by Barry Hughart, but they're kidna hard to come by. Not out of print, just not really in print. Anyway, I was pleased to discover that [livejournal.com profile] drwex had a copy of Bridge of Birds, the first book in the series and further, that he was willing to let me read it.

He predicted it would be a fast, breezy read and he was quite correct. It was also an utterly charming book concerning the adventures of an ancient sage and simple peasant and I'm pleased to see that my reading material is trending upward. Highly recommended, although now the desire to play Weapons of the Gods is that much stronger.

Tom

Yes indeed. The other 2 books aren't quite as good, but in this case "not quite as good" is still really really good.

There's an edition that Phil Folio's wife illustrated, and studiofoglio.com had copies of that for a while, but they don't seem to any more...

This is Kirby.

I have a copy of Eight Skilled Gentlemen (the third and last in the series). You are welcome to borrow if we can figure out how to do that...perhaps we can get J&J to hold another party at their house.

Also solipsistnation is right that it is not quite as good as BoB, but still definately worth the read.

Lastly if you find a copy of the 2nd one (Story of the Stone I think), see if I can borrow. I never found it myself.
