Hey,
4 Copies of "On the Origin of PCs" -- an Order of the Stick book.
A whole mess of sourcebooks for Buck Rodgers in the XXVth Century, plus an additional boxed source material ("Against the Han") for a llter, more pulpy Buck Rodgers game. It's all for Mikey so I'm not going to get into the details.
Rivets -- Microgame 5 -- a small boardgame from SJGames's forerunner. You build little robot units, program them to attack and send them out to do battle.
The Power Gamer's 3.5 Wizard Strategy Guide -- Goodman Games -- I really enjoyed the first book in the series covering fighters. Now the Wizards get their due. The sourcebooks break down all the numbers in D&D and show you what's important and what falls apart. Because of the myriad spell combos, there's very little on specific spells, but the book does help sift out the more useful ones and shows how the use of metamagic feats can make an Empowered 2nd level spell better than any 4th level spell it replaces. Not quite all the way through this one, but good food for thought. Like the Warrior book, this only covers the 3.5 core rulebooks, so depending on your add-ons this may or may not be the end-all word on the subject, but you can see how to break down the spells/feats in other games as well.
GURPs Cabal -- picked it up for cheap for $5. Currently in use in Jere's Nephilim game and while I don't actually own the GURPs rules, I do have a number of sourcebooks and this one came highly recommended.
Jihad -- Burning Wheel -- A short setting supplement for Burning Wheel. It's basically a rip-off of Dune and Fading Suns, but seeing Burning Wheel set up for a sci-fi setting is really nice.
Polaris -- Tao Games -- Mentioned this in an earlier post. A game of Chivalric Tragedy at the Utmost North. Very spiffy game. Anxious to give it a full reading and run through.
Discorida -- Wicked Dead Brewing Company -- It's the Discordian RPG. Yes, the graphic design is every bit what you'd expect. I also believe it will make for a pretty good RPG in the end. Jeff may find something in it useful for World On Fire...or maybe not.
Anaxial's Roster -- Issaries Press -- The HeroQuest Monster Manual. Got it on sale cheap for $3.
Thirty -- Wicked Dead Brewing Company -- An occult RPG about the 30 Knight's Templar who fled the Inquisition -- right into the tree of life. The first printing of this book came with a wooden box filled with various artifacts. This is just the print version, but I'm very intrigued with what I've seen so far.
Primetime Adventures -- Dog-eared Designs -- It's a new version of a game I already have. Apparently Mr. Wilson went back and tightened up the rules, pulled out a new resolution mechanism and generally improved the game.
Breaking the Ice -- Black and Green Games -- It's the romance RPG from my friend Emily. I'm in the playtest credits. It was less than 10 bucks. I got me a copy. She was doing a lot of demos and seemed to have pretty good sales. A lot of fun for non-RPG types and people looking for something a little different.
Bacchanal -- Half Meme Press -- I mentioned this one in an earlier post. Hot, hot game of wine, sex, madness, and death. Not for everyone. Definitely for me.
Dust Devils -- Chimera Creative -- Was the best Western RPG until Dogs came along and if you can't handle the premise of Dogs, Dust Devils is ready to run a much more traditional Western game. Had lots of good press, never got a chance to pick it up until now.
The Mountain Witch -- Timfire Publishing -- You and your band of Sammurai must take on the Mountain Witch. Only problem is none of you trust each other and probably only one of you will make it to the final confrontation. A game all about player trust.
The Shadows of Yesterday -- Anvilwerks -- A fantasy game by Clinton Nixon who brought us Donjon. Very curious to check this one out. Probably should've gotten a demo. We'll see how it works out.
Capes -- Muse of Fire Studio -- The super-hero game that sold itself.
I also picked up the Gnomish Barbarian miniature from Reaper Minis. So gonna have to play that in a game.
So yeah, quite the haul. I'll be giving my reviews on stuff as I get through them.

Date: 2005-08-25 12:53 pm (UTC)Yeah, like I say, the game would have to be more irresistable than Settlers for me to bother picking it up.
