The Prisoner

No, this isn't a movie-version of the British Spy-Fi series of the same name.

No, this isn't Cool Hand Luke either (though you might think that).

No, this is a Hong Kong action flick.

Now, you may see this titled as: Jackie Chan: The Prisoner or Jackie Chan is The Prisoner.

I am here to tell you now that this is a great big lie and a half.

Sure, Jackie Chan does appear in the movie...as a complete third string character who's story arc is shorter than that of the quiet snitch who winds up being fed his pet mouse and immolated.

How not Jackie Chan is this movie? Jackie Chan shoots a guy with a gun. That's how not Jackie Chan this movie is. Clearly it's work he did very early on and once he got big the studio was quick to capitalize on it.

So the Prisoner...clearly not worth the money we didn't pay for it.

I'm very much looking forward to Kung Fu Hustle. Which would be hard pressed to suck even if the trailer (and only the scenes in the trailer) were the high point.

I have seen this movie with Jackie Chan you speak of, it is not worth watching....but then again, you know that by now... ;)

If it's the movie I'm thinking of, it isn't even an action flick. It's a prison drama loaded with so much slang that it had to be subtitled in Chinese for the Chinese audience.

Go see "Project A" or "Armour of God" instead.

Thanks for the tippo ... it definitely sounds like Kung Fu Hustle is the one to watch for. You're right, the trailer is a phenomenon all by itself!
