Hey,

So today in Western MA was another installment of JiffyCon, the one-day DIY gaming convention that mostly runs indie/small-press games but is pretty much up for whatever. I ran a game and played a game.

The game I ran was an Esoterrorist adventure called Profane Miracles. It was a little odd running a canned adventure but I got it for cheap at a sale and figured I might as well takea advantage of someone else's hard work. I whipped up a few characters and turned it loose.

Thanks to my mad GM skills I had four charming (and married) ladies at my table. They all took on the role of occult investigators seeking to explain the mysterious death and apparent resurrection of Jonathan Bentley, wealthy financier living in LA. As usual, the GUMSHOE system works a treat and the team moved from scene to scene in a very organic, procedural way. They stopped to kick around theories about what was going on. The adventure is a bit more "kick in the door and shoot up the baddies" sort of deal, but they handled it well and took down the bad guys without much in the way of blowback.

In the afternoon, I participated in a tabletop test run of The Anthropophagy Society -- a LARP running at Intercon K this year. I'm not going to spoil it other than to say it's a game about cannibalism and it was quite a bit of fun to play. I think the GM got some valuable feedback and if you're in the game, you should be very excited about it.

All in all, a fun day.
Tom
