Hi,
So last night I went to see The Warrior's Way. A movie best described as "Cowboys vs. Ninjas".
Actually it's better described as "Samurai vs. Ninjas with unfortunate Cowboys and Circus people who get in between them". The movie is also so loaded down with CGI it's just 10% away from being Avatar or something.
But yeah, if you want Samurai vs. Ninjas with some unfortunate Cowboys and Circus folk, this movie is really pretty good. The story is made up of time-worn elements you've seen 100 times before and yet it does ok. The movie provides just enough story to make the fight scenes go, and the story doesn't try for any big flourishes that would fall flat and look stupid. Nope, the story is the humble rail line that drives your little fight machine down the road to the end.
This is a simple bit of kung-fu escapist fun that simply tries hard and mostly does ok to above-average. Frankly, it's a movie that should've been released in the summertime. It's on that level of popcorn entertainment and while it would've been swamped by the big-name releases this summer, it was a better movie than any number of them.
So yeah, The Warrior's Way kick a little Christmas ass.
