Hi,

Another Diaspora character:

Carsten/Anja

Growing up: You were born into a modestly wealthy family on Eigen. Your Mother and Father ran a chain of hospitality centers that catered to interface cargo haulers. They were able to purchase a good education for you and you did well at school but you were always more interested in the stories of your Aunt Inga. Inga owned her own starship and sailed the Slipways as an independent merchant. That she was something of the black sheep in the family only endeared her to you more.

Aspects:

  • A Taste for Adventure
  • Spacer Folklore

Starting Out: So it was a surprise to no one that you ran off to join your Aunt as part of her crew. She taught you everything you know and when she died, she passed the ship on to you. You've done your best since then, looking for every kind of deal you could find. Sometimes they've been a bit questionable like selling those high-powered, full-auto "hunting rifles" to those Concordian "privateers", but you've done your best to stay away from the seriously illegal stuff.

Aspects:

  • Shady Contacts
  • Proud Owner-Operator

Crisis: But you really push the limits when it comes to Fairhaven. Eigen policy is to take a very "hands-off" approach. Eigen strictly limits interface landings and the security ships in the area see to that, but they're passing up so much potential commerce just to keep some god-mongers and inefficient aristos happy. You'd made an unauthorized trip down there recently to see about setting up some discreet business, but it turned into this cargo cult situation and when the authorities showed up they tossed you into the local jail. If they transported you to a big town here Eigen security could get a look at you, you'd be toast. Luckily, the minister you were working the deal through managed to convince the locals to help spring you and you all managed to escape.

Aspects:

  • Evading Eigen Security
  • Deal with Yokels

Sidetracked: You took the Fairhavener with you and he got to meet the rest of the crew -- all of them strays from around the cluster. You have a knack for picking them up. It's been a good policy though, you've got a top-notch doctor from Darmini who's been with you for a long time. They came on-board clearly running from something and you've been helping to keep them hidden whenever you pass through Darmini. You can't stand to see such good talent go to waste...or to work from someone else.

Aspects:

  • Good Eye for People
  • Look After My Crew

On your own: Now you want to take another crack at Fairhaven. If your former minister can stir up some trouble and help take over a province, they will become the de facto authority in the area and the various Eigen rulings have a loophole that will let you strike a separate deal with them. You can sell them the tech they need to maintain their control over the province and you can license the access rights out to other eager merchants. Eventually, Eigen will find a way to shut you down, but until then you'll be rolling in dough and the floodgates for trade with Fairhaven will be wide open.

Aspects:
  • "Markets Must Be Free!"
  • Determined to Succeed

Skills:

Level 5: Brokerage
Level 4: Pilot, Resolve
Level 3: Navigation, Assets, Slug Thrower
Level 2: Charm, Culture, Gunnery (space), Micro-G
Level 1: EVA, Stamina, Engineering, Aircraft, Alertness

Stunts:

Military Grade Brokerage -- No penalties for dealing in illegal/restricted goods.
Have a Spaceship -- You own the Turquoise Jubilee
Lucky -- Consequences are 2/3/4
