So, the measuring cup that came with the rice cooker apparently uses it's own private standard when it says "cup". I think the 1/2 cup dry measure I have just about equals one of the rice cooker's cups (it was sort of Dixie cup sized). And for that, it recommends 2 cups water for brown rice.
So I'm guesstimating, but it seems to work out when I do it right and not half-assed like I did the other day.
