Turn to page 64 for the obituary
Jul. 17th, 2012 08:50 amHey,
So I heard on the news that Daniel J. Sobol died last week. Mr. Sobol was author of the Encyclopedia Brown series of books. The obituary also mentioned that a number of people were interested in doing a film adaptation but that apparently the film rights are a legal mess and no one, not even a trivia-minded young kid can figure it out.
Which I think is a blessing in disguise -- the things that make reading Encyclopedia Brown stories fun are things that just wouldn't translate well to the big screen. I suppose a DVD release would give you the ability to "flip to the end of the book", but still.
Anyway, it's sad that there won't be any new stories.
