An open letter...
Jul. 19th, 2005 11:35 amDear WPI and SallieMae
Here is the last of the money I borrowed from you over 10 years ago in order to go to college. Looking back, I'm fretful that I didn't make good use of the cash. I should've done a lot of things differently. However, this is the kind of wishful thinking I'm always doing. It certainly isn't your fault. I suppose from a straight money-spent-in-repayments vs. money-earned-through-higher-education, it's been something of a win for me. And, of course, the many people and experiences of college have all had a big impact on me and the person I am today...and those were mostly positive impacts so again, a win for me.
Still, I am extremely pleased to say "good riddance" to the both of you. Of course, SallieMae wears a smirk, since she knows I'll soon be courting her sister Fannie (and maybe their cousin FreddieMac), but for now, one of the longest financial chapters in my life is finally over.
We'll always have Worcester,
Tom
