Difficult Conversations is right up there with "You Just Don't Understand" as a top book at explaining what the everloving is going on inside my brain. I credit Difficult Conversations with saving me from getting fired from at least one job.
If you have not, you should read their other two books, Getting to Yes, and Getting Past No.
Getting to Yes is the foundation book of the series and explains the theory. D.C. is about why it's hard to get to yes, and GPN is what to do when the other party in the conversation won't play by the nice rules.
