An elephantine review

So one of the great things about Kickstarter is that it can be used to produce small runs of niche products that nobody cares about. Such was the case with The Complete Uncle, a project devoted to putting out an omnibus collection of all the Uncle stories by J.P. Martin. I reviewed the first two of books almost four years ago and now I've gone through the last four.
The Uncle stories are all about Uncle, an elephant who lives in a sprawling castle called Homeward. In each story, he and his retainers explore Uncle's vast castle and come across new and interesting people and places. Invariably, they must also confront Uncle's sworn enemy, Beaver Hateman and his band of miscreants from the adjoining set of ruins known as Badtown.
So it's just pleasant bumbling around and quaint little adventures. It's quite charming, although it does read a bit like fairy tales for the 1%. Uncle is fabulously wealthy and continually lucks into additional wealth and riches, but he's also incredibly generous with his wealth and finds gainful employment for those who needs it and sees off the lazy, spiteful, jealous Hateman and company.
Still, I'm glad I got the book, it makes for some fun children's reading.
