Dropping restrictions on gay marriage is not only the right thing to do, it also affords heterosexual people a number of rich and surprising benefits. I, for one, welcome our new gay married overlords and look forward to their long and fabulous reign.

It's true in general, but these specific "rich and surprising benefits" are a bit more...um...self-centered shall we say? If not for gay marriage I wouldn't have been someone's date to the wedding and we wouldn't have enjoyed the aforementioned "benefits"...
