My cats used to play fetch as well, provided I had the right throw toys. Some things I'd throw and they'd just turn it into a batting game. Other things they'd pick up and bring back to me.

Maxine will play fetch , usually with a ring or a ball of tissue paper.
She'll bring it to me, drop it on my lap, and then crouch down a few feet away, waiting for the throw.
