Thousand Shrine Heroes

Hey,

So. 4th ed. I want to give the system a spin and I want to be behind the screen (because I think the new DM rules are awesome). Here's my pitch for the adventure I'd run with it:

Your village is a flickering candle in the darkness. The dark woods crowd in on all sides, filled with evil dangers. The only thing that preserves this refuge is the ceque, a line of shrines connected by a road to the heart of the village. The magical powers of the shrines flow along the road and spread their protection and blessings out to the people.

For as long as anyone can remember the shrines have kept the evil surrounding you at bay. But something has gone wrong. The shrines have been overrun and their magic is slowly being choked off. The village needs brave heroes to travel out along the road, away from the safety of the village, to inspect the shrines. The heroes must drive off any invaders occupying the shrines and if the shrines have been damaged, they must somehow restore them so that the magic flows again and the people will be safe.

----

So yeah, bunch of 1st level newbies hitting the road and trying to fix up some magic shrines to save the day. I'm aiming for a 3-hour game or so (so there can be a couple of fights to kick the tires).

ETA: Hoping for 4-5 players. Ideally, people have their characters ready to go when they show up to play. Ideally, everyone plays a human or halfling character (I'm not going to be a jerk about it, but it'd be nice). Best days are M, Th, Fr, and Sun for the foreseeable future. Let me know what days are good for you.

This!

I have alternate Monday commits, which will become every Monday commits at some point. My other days can be cleared.

Pending schedule availability, I'm interested.

Are you going to go with pre-gens, should people come with page-in-hand?

I am eager to hear reviews about this. My understanding is that some players do not like the "MMORPG-like/munchkin nature" of the new rules...

Sounds fun!

I'm excited for 4th ed., I've only played a few games of 3rd and [livejournal.com profile] freakydimension ordered the books and we're currently shopping for a twice-a-month group, and have possibly found one!

I'll write something up for you after we've played a while, if you'd like. :)

Yeah 4th ed looks interesting... I'm already thinking of running a campaign in it... something similar to what you have, but also influenced by such games as Diablo II, Titan Quest, etc... basically traveling to reactivate various temples.

I would be interested but I am not sure of my schedule yet. I would go with M or Th.

Is this going to be a long run or a short story arc over a couple months?

Happy to give it a try. Thursdays are best, Fridays and Sundays are doable.

What character generation method?

First and third mondays of the month for the summer would be great. Thursdays and other days less so.

Haven't played the D&D in a while. :) Thursdays not so good, but other days are flexible.
