[Lexicon] The Encyclopeida Elymira

Hi,

So as mentioned previously, I'm setting up to run a Lexicon.

Here is the introductory blurb:

At Ruggero I's conquest, the kingdom of Elymri held only the western third of the island of Sciela. By the time of the dissolution of the monarchy about AZ 952, it had been the greatest power in the Ocean, and also the pawn of the other great powers. Between the coronation of Ruggero I and the creation of the Kantrad, the scions of the Damiani, Urquardo, Meliflu, and Harono families were kings, queens, regents, artists, philosophers, sorcerors, despots, resistance fighters, courtesans and priestesses. Now, at last, their story can be told in The ENCYCLOPEDIA ELYMRIA!

New information from the Royal Archives, personal interviews with servants of great houses, and depositions taken during the collaboration trials of the scions of the Houses Lesser, bring you the true history of Elymri for the first time, using the new four-color manuscript process and the magic of daemonic printery!

If you've never played in a Lexicon game before, you should check out the rules. Basically a Lexicon is a creative writing exercise. You get to write 100-250 words about a fictional topic twice a week. We're planning on starting April 11th and having entries due on Tues. and Thurs. for the next four weeks ending around May 4th.

The home page for the Lexicon is located here and you should feel free to sign up on the Players page and make up a bio for your "scholar" on the Authors page.

Any questions or comments can be directed to me
Tom

What's the phonetic pronounciation of the kingdom? Ell-eem-rhee-uh? Ell-emm-rhee-uh?

"Elly-mmree" was how I read it in my head.

Perhaps it's a subject of some debate. Debate and assassination.

It's never too early in the day to be a pedant.

Interesting!

BTW, where does one find out more about the setting itself so as to make thematically appropriate entries (and scholars)? (i.e. I wouldn't want to do an entry that includes a person's death if everyone is immortal... or is determining even that part of the game?).

P.S. Love that "daemonic printery!" =)

Thanks. I'll let you know soon if I'm up for it.

Could you change the background color of the edit window to something that shows more contrast against the "highlight text" color? A little brighter would be fine.

April 11th, you say. Hmm...

It's the last day of Bigor, which means I'm going to be dead to the world for a few days afterwards. A pity.

This is up to Tom, too, but I don't have a problem with scholars joining on later turns. It might make things complicated, in terms of adding entries earlier in the alphabetical order, but I don't see that as a deal-breaker.

Hey, I think I'm in.

I'll decide and sign up tomorrow.

I added myself as well, but haven't had a chance to make an entry. Hope that's okay.
