Zen Story Review

Hey,

So [livejournal.com profile] kellesparta lent me a coipy of Way of the Peaceful Warrior by Dan Millman, which is a book I've heard of, but never actually read myself.

So I read it.

It is, in brief, an extended Zen story. I like zen stories. A lot. Sadly, my monkey brain is very clever with zen stories and often willfully misses the point. However, the book did come along at an opportune time and remind me of a few important things, so on that note, I'm happy it came my way.

Recommended if you like zen stories.

later
Tom

It's been sitting on my bookshelf unread since college...

Y'know, at the time I read it I was young and willful and dumb. I was really quite struck by the message (having not really had exposure to that kind of parable) but dismissed it as new-age pap.

Now that I'm older, I find my mine returning to scenes in the books, seeing it a different light.

I should go back and reread it. It might be a good time.

Wow, I forgot about that book. I think I have it buried in all my "heretical" angel/kabbalah/new-age books that I picked up 10-15 years ago.

Maybe I'll take a re-read, after I finish my newly acquired copy of The Wrestler's Cruel Study (thanks for the heads-up). =)

I have The Sacred Journey Of The Peaceful Warrior, if you'd like to read that one, too.
