Clark. YOU. CAN. FLY. If Zod's going to eye-beam those people to death, just FLY AWAY WITH HIM. One quick jolt up and to the side and Zod won't be able to zap anyone.

From everything I've read, this seems like a super annoying take. The entire point of Superman (as opposed to other superman-like characters) is he's anti-collateral damage. Here, from what I've heard, Metropolis gets pounded flat and no thought is given to idea of casualties.

I'm ok with the idea that Superman can't be everywhere at once, it's ok if Superman fails, even on a pretty big level, but once he's on the scene he has to really try to save everyone and it just never happened here.
