Another Amberite Stumper

Hey Gerard!

Are really-real fake swords better in a fight than fake real swords?

"It doesn't matter, kid. Benedict will kill you with either one."

How's that Amber/Nobilis Game coming along?

Just a few random notes for the peanut gallery...

[World Fruit] Opening rounds

Hey,

So my Amberilis game kicked off yesterday.

I've got three players, which seems really small for Amber, but which is, in fact, just about right for Nobilis so we'll see how it works out.

I brought all the elders back from the dead, only to promptly kill Dalt.

There are vague hints that Reality As We Know It is threatened by Corwin's Pattern.

PCs are quickly being recruited by various factions. One of them has already been pushed forward to King's Pawn 4. One has been recruited by Agent Merlin and Ghostwheel. The last has been told
to cut Ghostwheel (and its agents) out of the picture entirely.

It's been awhile since I last GM'd a game. I'm a bit rusty, but it wasn't too bad. Most people weren't entirely sure what they wanted to play so the game had a bit of drift. Still, I clearly need to put in a bit more prep time so that I've got plenty of stuff lying around for PCs to pick up on and get involved in. Now that I've got real players and real PCs though, I think it'll be easier to start getting stuff set up (and finding a nice cliffhanger to stop on too).

I also know that part of it is the finite nature of the game and the fact that I'm trying to find the right tenor between moving things along to reach the end and giving things enough time to develop. The elder Amberites were almost pathetically forthcoming in this opening round. I am, however, hopeful that as devlopments unfold and players start to dig in, Elders will start slipping back into their pleasantly obtuse modes of behavior.

[Fruit of All Worlds] Pre-game Poll

Hi,

OK, so while on vacation I had a lot of fun and deep spiritual insights and faced my shadow self with regard to gypsy moth caterpillars.

But all that means nothing for this post. This post is about the fact that a lot of stuff for the Fruit of All Worlds Amber/Nobilis game really came together. So now it's time to ask a few questions:

1.) Do you want to play? Don't bother filling out the rest of this unless you want to play (and have some reasonable hope of being in the area to actually play and stuff).

2.) How many sessions? I have no grandiose ideas of this game running for time immortal. I just want to go through a kick-ass story arc and then let it go. Which is not to say that everyone will die at the end or that we can't pick up and do another arc, I just want to use a finite number of sessions to focus play. So your choices for total number of sessions are:

a. 6
b. 8
c. 10
d. 12

Myself, I lean slightly towards the lower end of the scale (because we're really running two games at once and it'll let me highlight a bunch of stuff).

3.) How frequently do you want to meet? Lately games have been bi-weekly, but if you went to weekly, you could get through a 12-episode game in 3 months which seems nice (but is probably impractical given life and everything).

4.) When would you like to meet? I would prefer to avoid weekends. I might consider doing Sundays (on a bi-weekly schedule) because if we kicked in an afternoon, we could cover two weeknight sessions in one day and that might make the timing work out better for people. Just a thought.

Ummm...I think that's it.

You've got your game of godlike beings in my...er...game of godlike beings!

Hey,

I'm off on vacation and I won't be back until Sunday earliest.

This means I may be a bit slow in my homeworld war entry for this round.

On the other hand, I'm leaving a going-away present.

Gaming geekery ahoy!

True, there's not much there right now, but consider it a very firm mention in the "10 mentions and then I run it" rule. Feel free to throw stuff in but don't be a wiki-dink.
