Hey,

OK, so I was going to ask if anyone could point me to a web site that would tell me how my current state rep voted on the whole gay marriage amendment dealie.

I'm still asking for that.

But I realize that, much like my mom, I'm a one-issue voter. I'm sure that in the race for state rep, there's probably a lot of important issues that I should be taking a look at. Alternatively, the politics are so small potatoes it doesn't even matter and one rep is as good as another. But for some reason I'm either going to support or revile the incumbent based on his or her (see? I don't even know that!) stance on a single issue I care a lot about but which, in the larger scheme of things, isn't really what's most relevant (but I'm not even sure if there really are relevant issues).

Grm.
Tom

Here's a list of who represents which towns (by town, for sanity's sake)...
http://www.mass.gov/legis/citytown.htm

VoteSmart has voting records at the Federal level, but not state...
http://www.vote-smart.org/

And here's a senate resolution congratulating the Red Sox...
http://www.mass.gov/legis/redsoxreso.htm

After much hullaballoo, the "official" way is to find the bill here, then look at the history and find out when the bill was voted on, and =then= go to the correct Journal (House or Senate) and see who voted which way. If you have the bill number, you're a big step ahead. Details available at the FAQ page.

Occasionally, you can find specific issues reported on in newspapers or on a particular group's web site.

Yay, easy-to-use democracy, eh?

Hm. What about us single-issue Sonny Bono Copyright Extension Act voters?

Seriously?

At a state level I mean. There are certainly relevant issues at a national level.

Oh, ok. Gotcha.

There is the Nantucket wind farm... it'd be great to actually have non-oil-dependent energy production for our state, but the rich folk of Nantucket don't want to see a fan way, way out on their ocean view horizon...

The local ACLU chapter mailed out a big list of that info... Maybe you should, like, join. 8)

If you find that list, let me know. That one issue is my major deciding factor as well.
