Reviews in Darkness

Hi,

So I just finished up Gods in Darkness by Karl Edward Wagner. It's a collection of 3 stories revolving around Mr. Wagner's signiture creation Kane.

Like most sword and sorcery heroes, Kane is a complete badass. He's a huge, hulking man who moves with cat-like speed and grace. He's got wild red hair and baleful blue eyes, but he also knows spells and super-science. He was cursed with immortality by an angry god and wanders the world looking for ways to salve his boredom.

If you've ever wondered what a Chaotic Evil hero would look like, Kane is it. In each story he basically tries to take over the Earth (or a large chunk of it), then he discovers that some ancient hideous evil threatens to enslave the Earth. So he breaks it up to the detriment of his plans and he must move on, leaving a devastated sub-continent behind.

It's pretty good stuff for sword and sorcery fiction.

later
Tom
