Blasphemous reviews
Hi,
In a very quick read, I just finished Godless by Pete Hautman. It's a Young Adult book, so the text is large and the pages are few. But it was an interesting premise.
Jason Bock is a 15 year-old who's pretty fed up with his very Catholic parents and he's pretty sure that either there is no God or you can't say much about him. After getting decked by a bully, he figures it'd be fun to make up a new religion with the town's water tower as the God. So it's kinda like a young teen version of Foucault's Pendulum but without the Templars.
As you might expect, things go to hell in a handbasket pretty quickly and our hero is left to wonder about the power of religion.
It's not the most fantastic thing I ever read, but it wasn't terrible. Maybe when my nephew gets a little older I'll send him a copy. Heh.
later
