Diaspora -- Negasi/Lishan

Hi,

Last of the Diaspora characters...

Negasi/Lishan

Growing up: You were born on the world of Sabrael in Fairhaven and at a young age your folks pulled a few strings and sent you away to a monastery for a better education than you would've had as a poor farmer. You were swept up into a world of prayer and devotion and never saw your parents again. It was a hard life, but contemplating the divine mysteries made it bearable. Even in the holiest of places there were petty politics to sort out and unlike a lot of the noble scions who could buy their way into a comfy slot you had to work hard to earn your privileges. Fortunately, you were very well-spoken, intelligent and devout, if the moral high ground didn't win every battle you fought, you could always count on having it.

Aspects:

  • Monastic Life
  • True Believer

Starting Out: After many years of training, you managed to secure a position for yourself as an Astedader in the province of Alhara. You were in charge of a half dozen or so smaller temples. You traveled about from temple to temple giving sermons and overseeing the spiritual development of the area. It was exciting work, but as you came into contact with more and more people, it was all too easy to see that the nobles and the church were ignoring their duties to the people. They were eager for all manner of magical trinkets from the Emissaries of St. Eigen, but they would never acquire anything to make life better for the common folk. Instead, they simply amassed more and more relics to make their already easy lives even more comfortable.

Aspects:

  • "Religion has a duty to all unfortunates."
  • Passionate Organizer

Crisis: You spoke out against these excesses and when other Emissaries arrived to try and bring more relics to Sabrael , you were quick to help them. The authorities wasted no time in condemning you and driving you out. The Emissaries took you with them when you fled and that's when your world became so much larger. You learned all about the cluster, about the Confederation and Eigen and the potent technologies at their disposal. You learned how Eigen was stealing the riches in space around your world. Everything you thought you knew was, at best, a crude semblance of the way things. You huddled in your strange cell (trying not to think about how it was moving alone in the void) in a near-catatonic state. It took a long series of conversations with another newcomer from Apex, one who didn't even believe in the angels!, to help you come to terms with everything that had happened.

Aspects:

  • Shattered Illusions
  • Firebrand

Sidetracked: The Captain was happy to see you back on your feet and interacting again. If it wasn't for you, they wouldn't be back safe on their ship. When the authorities cracked down, they swooped in and took the Captain and their friends to the local jail. You knew they'd be killed or worse if they were transported back to the capitol. So you organized the people of the streets to help storm the jail and free the Captain. That made it too dangerous for you to stay in Sabrael so the Captain gave you a ride out, not realizing how disturbing the new reality would be to you. So the Captain is clearly concerned for your welfare.

Aspects:

  • Friend of the People.
  • Enemy of the State

On your own: Some of that concern is clearly for the Captain's bottom line. The Captain is anxious to make another try at gaining a toehold onSabrael . The idea is that Eigen's agreements are with the rulers of each world in Fairhaven. If someone were to break the hold of the Church and the Nobility on even a province, the new authority could negotiate anything they wanted to with anyone. This would make the Captain very rich and it would also bring a flood of new technologies toSabrael . You've done your research and you know that Eigen is at least as corrupt as the rulers of your world. But change won't happen for the millions of people scratching out a bare existence on Fairhaven unless they can get their hands on Eigen technology...or Confederate technology. You've always seen your mission as bringing Truth to the people. Now you might have to directly confront them with some unpleasant Truths.

Aspects:
  • Dealing with the Devil
  • "The Old Order Must Fall"

Skills:

Level 5: Oratory
Level 4: Bureaucracy, Charm
Level 3: Resolve, Profession (Priest), Brawling
Level 2: Stamina, Alertness, Agility, Survival
Level 1: Animal Handler, Arts, Medical, Stealth, Tactics

Possess Angelic Robes -- A T2 suit that can generate a variety of holographic effects based on your religion. Grants +2 bonus to social attacks vs. Fairhaven natives.
