What post-consumerist economies?

The UPS man left a couple of presents on my doorstep today.

Among the swag received was a sportsman's vest. You know, the kind with a zillion pockets you wear when you're fishing or hunting? It's true, I don't do either of those things, but I do like pockets. And I also think it will come in handy when I go camping, or in any other situation where I want to have the necessities on hand.

I also got a new bag. I've had a bag for almost 20 years now and after the cat peed on it I decided it was well and truly time to get myself a new bag (and aside from cat piss, 20 years of hard living was starting to take it's toll).

I found this. I know, I'm probably paying some sort of Brand-Name Premium(TM), but it's so absolutely what I was looking for in a bag it's not even funny. It's got a sleeve for my laptop and plenty of extra room. It can be carried like a briefcase, slung over the shoulder, or worn like a backpack.

So when the end of days comes and America is a shattered wreck, I shall head out into the wilderness with my vest and my bag, loaded down with the remaining fragments of the American Dream.

later
Tom

That big is pretty. And full of Win and Awesome.

MP is the bag I see most often in the city, by far. It's highly popular for good reasons, mainly that they're superior for urban life/commuting. The next most popular bag is Crumpler.

That kind of vest is also so popular with holders of concealed handgun permits in warm weather that it'll make a lot of people just assume you must be packin'. Which isn't so handy if you are, admittedly.

Hey, thanks for stimulating the economy! I'll do my part as soon as I can.

Actually, I think I'm buying a berimbau later this week, but I don't expect that money to go into any trackable system right away.

I'm a Timbuk2 addict myself. Spent months looking for an equivalent bag at a better price and just wound up biting the bullet.
