Now we'll have to put up a gate -- keep the riff-raff out...
Hi,
Guess who's landed gentry now?
The closing was really pretty simple and the paperwork wasn't too excessive.
But what I didn't know was that the Maynard levy not only requires that I have sword, shield, and armor for myself, but I have to supply
asciikitty with a pole-arm and I also have to support 3 men-at-arms (either with my own equipment, or hired warriors). All this and they can require my service for up to 45 days during the summer.
I dunno if the tax write-off offsets all this...

I suspect that that means I would have to be sure and get my armor finished.

I hear you do that on a regular basis already . . .
With a kilt and a claymore...
Woohoo!
Re: Woohoo!
It's not that big. It's just that in Maynard, like the rest of Eastern MA, levy rates are just obscene. I understand that a shopping plaza is going up in the Maynard area which should help alleviate levy rates. And I'm for it! If money-grubbing merchants want to set up shop with their "commerce" nonsense, they should at least have to pay for its defense.

Oh, and if Army of Darkness has taught me anything, it's that it's apparently very easy to train people to use pole-arms. :-)

I think she's covered.

I have two arms also.
But I have a whole lot of experience as a homeowner at this point, if you need.
