Don't underestimate his reading power and the power of context, because when I was that age, I read Silver Age Justice League comics, and I was able to expand my vocabulary immensely by figuring out through context that when the villain said "MORONIC CRETIN!!" it was a bad thing and then I looked it up later to figure out what it meant...
