Well...in a deeper sense, doesn't every man have issues with women?
More practically, Rich seems to have a pretty good relationship with his wife so it's not as if he's a ranting, unloved loner.
I will say that generally, the women in the strip are all fairly competent. Miko single-handedly defeated the whole group. Haley consistently does her job well. Roy's sister is a teenaged punk, but she does escape the bad guys on her own. Sabine is sneaky evil like I'd expect a fiend/devil to be. If V is actually a female elf, then she's been more than useful as a party member.
And while all of them have quirks/problems, it's not much different than Elan being a doofus or Belkar being a homicidal maniac. And if she'd just get her damn voice back, Haley would really be one of the deeper characters (along with Roy and Durkon).
So is it a gender equality utopia? Probably not, but the women aren't window dressing or helpless victims either so it's a lot better than it could be.
I'm not saying women in the strip are helpless, by any means. But there seems to be a common thread of shallow/selfish/manipulative behavior common to Julia, Miko, Sam, Sabine, and (to a lesser extent, but then, when was the last time she had a line?) Haley. The male characters have more variety in their flaws.
